Grandparents To Be

Many of you may have read Paul’s announcement “we’re having a baby”. If you missed his writing, it is worth going to our website and look for prior newsletters to read his exciting news. Of course, he and Jill having a baby also means Cathy and I are having a grandchild. I do not know who is more excited, Paul and Jill or Cathy and me. Their soon to be born son will start a new chapter in their lives as well as start a new chapter for us. Many of our friends and family have already been blessed with grandchildren. We see the happiness that being grandparents has brought to their lives. We are so looking forward to many new and exciting moments as our family dynamics change. I just can’t wait to hold that little bundle of joy and kiss him on the forehead. Cathy and Kelly have already been buying outfits. Kelly is going to be such a wonderful aunt to her new baby nephew. She is so excited to begin her new role as well.

Paul wrote how they told Cathy and I in that they used Buddy as a messenger with a shirt that read “soon to be big brother”. They told us two weeks before they told Kelly to be sure all the medical stages of Jill’s pregnancy were progressing successfully. It was a difficult secret to keep not only from Kelly but from the rest of our family and friends, but we were sworn to secrecy. Well, I was the messenger in how they told Kelly that she was going to be an aunt. We were all together in FL; Cathy and I, Paul and Jill and Kelly and David, celebrating my 60'th birthday which was a wonderful time into itself. One of the gifts that Paul and Jill gave me was a shirt that said “Poppy, established 2018” (see pic of the week). Well the shirt brought a tear to my eye and when I held up the shirt for all to see there was whooping and hollering to be heard. It was such a beautiful moment and the happiness in the air was astounding. There were many tears of joy and group hugs.

There are so many unknowns in the future as it is and now add that a new life is being brought into this crazy world. So many friends and family will be there for this child providing help, love, support, comfort and guidance. Cathy and I will certainly be available to do our share of babysitting. Only being 5 miles away will make the process much easier. Paul and Jill have many friends that already have young children. One of their sets of closest friends are also expecting their first baby boy as well and he is due just few months before their son. The new baby boy Morrone (the name is still a secret, even to us) will have many friends of similar ages. I see many play groups in their futures.

We are thankful for so many things in life and we are truly blessed. We have each other, we have great kids who married wonderful people. We have our health and have unbelievable family and friends in our lives. I pinch myself each morning to be certain I am not dreaming.

Now, becoming grandparents, all I can say is LIFE IS GOOD!
