We're Having Another Baby

There’s nothing like starting a new year off with a bang, so I’m happy to say it’s true, Kyle is going to be a big brother! We’re expecting another baby boy in June of 2020, and it’s a relief to be able to finally share the news. It still feels weird to say that we will have two kids (plural) next year when I really haven’t even gotten used to saying that we have a son. This got me thinking… A mere 4 years ago I wasn’t sure I was capable of being a husband, 16 months ago I was questioning my ability to parent a child and now, fresh into a new decade, life is slapping me in the face once again. 

Fortunately, we have a lot working in our favor which gives me confidence that we will, once again, figure it all out. The timing couldn’t be better, and with an expected arrival on June 26th, Jill won’t have to suffer being pregnant through the heat of the summer like she did with Kyle. We’ll continue to rely on the support of friends and family who have made being a parent much easier, but also much more enjoyable.  Jill and I constantly remind ourselves how lucky we are to have so many resources so close to home and love how engaged our families and friends have been in Kyle’s life, a trend I’m certain will continue with yet-to-be named baby #2. 

The boys will ultimately be about 22 months apart, which means we’ll still be dealing with diapers on both ends, but should at least be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel with Kyle. This will put them close enough in age where they should be able to be friends as well as siblings, even through those pesky middle and high-school years when hormones and attitudes are at their peak. 

If this wasn’t crazy enough, many of our friends announced that they were pregnant as well, with at least 7 other couples expecting babies in 2020… 4 of which are expected in June! Its an incredibly exciting time and I’m curious to see how I’m going to be feeling at this time next year. 

To further add to the chaos, we’re moving into a new house in two weeks! More on that next time…
