Father's Day Weekend

Father's Day is a special occasion to honor and celebrate the incredible dads in our lives. This year, I had the pleasure of spending a memorable Father's Day weekend with my family. We embarked our way up to Clinton where we spent the day filled with outdoor games, delicious food, and quality time together. Let me take you through our exciting weekend, starting with Saturday's festivities at my grandmother's house and continuing with our Sunday morning strawberry-picking escapade at Lyman Orchards.
To kick off our Father's Day weekend, we gathered at my grandmother's house, which has always been a hub for family gatherings. Earlier in the day, it was overcast but by later afternoon the sun was shining brightly. We decided to indulge in a friendly competition of cornhole and badminton. Laughter filled the air as we cheered each other on and engaged in friendly banter.
As the day transitioned into evening, we transformed the backyard into a cozy outdoor theater. With the help of a projector and a blow-up screen, we created an awesome cinema experience under the stars. We gathered comfy blankets, set up lawn chairs, and prepared for a movie night. To satisfy our hunger, we ordered Chinese food, a treat that everyone enjoyed.
As darkness fell, we snuggled up and settled in to watch a movie together. With the dogs wandering around, the citronella candles lit to keep the bugs away, blankets to keep us warm, and food to fill us up, we couldn’t have asked for a better night.
On Sunday morning, our next adventure awaited us at Lyman Orchards. We woke up early attempting to beat the crowd to strawberry picking (this didn’t work). With a large basket in hand, we ventured into the fields and began the delightful task of picking strawberries. With rows and rows of bushes, even with a ton of people, finding good strawberries to pick was quite easy.
After gathering an ample supply of strawberries, we headed back home, eager to transform our search for strawberries into a mouthwatering treat. We started with making a strawberry shortcake, we sliced the strawberries, whipped the cream, and assembled the layers of sponge cake, creating quite the masterpiece.
With the strawberry shortcake ready, we took it outside to enjoy the beautiful afternoon. We turned on some Sunday afternoon baseball and savored each bite. While it was a relaxing weekend, we did quite a bit and enjoyed the spirts of beautiful weather. Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and grandfathers!
