Kyle's First Christmas

The holiday blitzkrieg has reached halftime now that Christmas has come and gone. It’s almost said to say, but a trip into the office is a welcome change of pace from the barrage of eating, drinking, cooking and cleaning that dominated the past several days. Aside from the traditional spoils of the holiday season and the consecutive string of ‘cheat days’ associated with it, it is ultimately the time spent with friends and family that matters most. Even more exciting was introducing everyone to Kyle and watching him interact with my cousins, friends and all their children.

Our family has grown considerably over the past few years, with new additions popping up what seems to be every other year. Because of the growing number of children being thrown into the mix, what was once a Christmas celebration filled with late nights and too much liquor has now become a different animal entirely. The excitement comes from the children who get to meet Santa each year and watching all of the little ones play together. My brother-in-law, Dave, dutifully dresses up as Santa, as he has done for the past 5 years or so and brings gifts for all of the children (and Buddy, too!). You can feel the anticipation as the children line up and look out the window for Santa’s sleigh, before he pops through the front door and surprises them.

At the end of the day, I could continue to sit here and tell you how great it was to have a child through the holidays, but I think in this case a picture is worth a thousand words. Enjoy!

Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2019!
